March 18, 2009 - Avnet's Rick Alvarez and Tony Vottima Recognized as 2009 Channel Chiefs by Everything Channel's CRN

Executives Honored for Their Leadership and Dedication to Helping Partners Successfully Grow Their Businesses Through a Solutions-Driven Approach

(NYSE: AVT), today announced that Rick Alvarez, senior vice president and general manager of its HP Solutions group, and Tony Vottima, vice president of its Solutions Marketing and Development group, have been named 2009 Channel Chiefs by Everything Channel's CRN. Channel Chiefs are recognized as influential executives who consistently defend, promote and execute effective channel partner programs and strategies.

These efforts led to the development of several tools, including eight solution-specific seminars to assist HP partners in generating leads and educating the market on how technology solutions can help solve common business challenges. As a result, the seminars helped generate millions of dollars in potential opportunities for Avnet's HP partners in 2008.

Vottima also played a crucial role in helping partners grow their businesses. Vottima focuses on the development of market education and enablement programs in specialized growth areas. One of his most noteworthy achievements was the development of a unique channel educational program -- an internship for the healthcare market. Offered to graduates of Avnet's HealthPath University, the internship was held at a hospital and enabled Avnet partners to gain deeper insights into their customers' business needs. During the internship, partners viewed healthcare technology through the eyes of hospital personnel and patients to provide them with a deeper understanding of this specialized market. Through HealthPath™, as well as Avnet's specialized practices for the government and virtualization markets -- GovPath™ and VirtualPath™, Vottima and his team continue to help solution providers excel in a constantly evolving market.
