Distributor Recognized for Innovative Business Intelligence and Rebate Management Systems
PHOENIX -- Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), a leading global technology distributor, today announced it has been named to the InformationWeek 500, marking the third consecutive year that Avnet has been recognized among the top 100 innovative information technology (IT) users. The magazine selected Avnet for this honor based on the development and deployment of business intelligence and rebate management systems to address the needs of its customers.
For the past 18 years InformationWeek has identified and honored the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual listing. The list is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
"Our team is dedicated to creating IT tools that not only focus on helping Avnet achieve its business goals, but also drive the long-term success of our customers and partners," said Steve Phillips, chief information officer at Avnet. "We're honored that InformationWeek has recognized the benefits of our systems, further demonstrating their value to the technology supply chain."
Avnet was recognized for the development of a unique system to help simplify one of the most difficult areas for customers to manage -- rebates. The Avnet Rebate Management System is an online tool that provides value-added resellers (VARs) with information on manufacturers' rebate and incentive programs, and insight into how the partners are tracking against targets. Avnet's VARs can access the Avnet Rebate Management System to learn their exact position in meeting targets, bonus opportunities and rebates they will receive. In less than a year of implementation, the system has helped customers earn significantly more in rebates than in previous years.
Additionally, InformationWeek honored Avnet for its business intelligence system, which focuses on process improvements, proactive management of customer orders and forecasts, and collaborative long-range planning. The system not only transformed Avnet's customer service processes, but also generated significant savings from increased efficiencies.
"The InformationWeek 500 honors today's leading companies who set the benchmark for business technology strategies and projects," said InformationWeek publishing director, Fritz Nelson. "The companies on our list are some of the most innovative users of technology."
