Award Recognizes Avnet IP&E for Highest Dollar Growth
PHOENIX -- Avnet Electronics Marketing, the largest operating group of Phoenix-based Avnet Inc. (NYSE: AVT), announces its Avnet IP&E division has earned Samtec's distribution award for highest dollar growth for 2003. Samtec Inc., a worldwide manufacturer of P.C. board-level interconnects, announced the award at the 2004 Electronic Distribution Show in Las Vegas. Jim Gribbins, Samtec's national sales manager, noted that while Samtec grew 17%, the company's overall distribution channel sales growth was 7%; however, Avnet's dollar growth was "an astounding 36%. Samtec believes this growth was the result of efforts by many within the Avnet organization, from the frontline salespeople working with the customers, to the management people who have worked so hard to build the relationship and become an extension of our own Samtec Sudden Service," Gribbins concluded.
